The essay summarizes the Czech-Brazilian cultural theorist and media philosopher Vilém Flusser’s ideas on the apparatus, codes, and programmed and manipulated society. Shared Frame streaming session 2021 presentation Painless Future & Viper Dreams Vinyl Dj Set

Shared Frame

I have been playing music since I can remember (as J.Sintax before Painless Future). Shared Frame´s idea was born in Montréal, Canada in2017, but came to fruition in Berlin in 2019. Vorspiel played a big role in the growth of the project since I started out alone in the city. I think Vorspiel reflects the spirit of this city and I really embraced it. During these years, I collaborated with different video directors, musicians, and groups, slowly but steadily (with the exception of this year, for personal and pandemic reasons).

There is a dark side behind the DJ set, of course. We had technical problems during the video stream, and also personal problems. We almost canceled. Easily one of the worst days of my life. In the end, our friends and DJ arrived and the music solved everything, at least for those few hours. Somehow, we managed to make it and the result was quite nice, all considered. So not the worst day after all.

The streamed event was also held to celebrate the new vinyl “Painless Future - Zukunft”. Another “fun fact” is that the vinyl is not yet available in Berlin´s shops (it will be very soon), but it’s already available in Paris (FR) and Turin (IT), where I travel often, and online of course. I can safely say these last couple of years have been really hard on me, but I guess the survival instinct plays a big part in all our lives, even if we are not aware of it. I will continue in 2022 with new ideas following the Shared Frame concept. I am ready now to again move forward with the project, and to embrace what I really care about: music and art in all its forms.
