The reSource network has been an extremely valuable resource in the process of establishing and running SPEKTRUM Berlin. It allowed us to connect with like-minded people in the city, to start up new collaborations, and to learn from those facing similar issues in running project spaces.

The essay summarizes the Czech-Brazilian cultural theorist and media philosopher Vilém Flusser’s ideas on the apparatus, codes, and programmed and manipulated society. He ends his texts by highlighting the importance of artists who might be able to play with and against the apparatus and challenge mass media and their preprogrammed functions.

Extramentale Arles

Extramentale is a programming platform, founded in Arles in 2016 by Julia Marchand. It focuses on an understanding of reality and contemporary creation through the prism of adolescence, a terrain of extremes and primamerism, of deformity and equivocal peer/father relationships.

"The Very Scary Forest" is the name given to the video game created by the artist Saradibiza. It was first proposed in free access and designed especially for the Chapelle de la Charité, in Arles.

Invited by Extramentale for the festival Octobre Numérique - Faire Monde, this project marks the first exhibition of the French-Moroccan artist born in 1993.

After studying at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Villa Arson, Saradibiza decided to devote herself entirely to 3D production. Her mastery of this technique soon enabled her to collaborate with other artists, such as the musician Oklou. It is also for her a highly personal approach because this technique fits perfectly with the expression of her sensitivity. As her creations, posted with modesty on her Instagram account, 3D modelling becomes the vector of an automatic writing that becomes more complex with the game "The Very Scary Forest", conceived in response to the baroque elements of the Chapel of Charity.

Nevertheless, the symbolism that emerges there goes beyond the field of his intimacy or the religious question. Whether it be family ties, embodied by the main character of the father fox, salvation "at work" or ecological sacrifice, these themes are treated with derision.

Part diary, part film, part installation and part video game, "TVSF, The Very ScaryForest" was also the result of a team effort by his circle of friends. Naia Combary and Gil Gharbi (co-writing), Oklou (music), Lucien Krampf (sound design), JulietteGelli ~ and Aleksandr Kontini (scenography), Amal Guichard (digital drawing), Sébastien Rabaste (3D sculpture), Ana Madjison (translation), Géraldine Baux (voice recording), Ana Madjison,Christopher Soetan, Casey MQ, Gil Gharbi (character voices).
