Spatial Composition // UdK Karl-Marx-Straße 52 12043

Our (working) title for the moment is “Tender Vessel” - Sound, Art and Technology - Poiesis: Spatial Composition is a class for artistic praxis, offered by the Universität der Künste and run by Daisuke Ishida. Participants are encouraged to create a piece of individual/group work (e.g. an Installation, a performance, etc.) with any kind of ephemeral media under the given theme ”Spatial Composition”. This project focuses on the artistic exploration of time, space and ephemeral media with a perceiver centric view. We will form space and time perception for the perceiver. Unlike solid material, ephemeral media can travel, be reflected, deflected, can refract and diffract and dissipate over time. These characteristics point to the direct dependence of ephemeral media on site and time. It is not merely directly perceived by a person after it has left its point of origin, may that be a sounding object, loudspeaker, fan, fog machine, origin of odor or light source etc., but its perception is indissociably connected with its location, surrounding, environment and the reciprocal influences.
