the Cultural Department of the Republic of Korea embassy @ gallery damdam Leipziger Platz 10117

The gallery space of the Cultural Department of the Republic of Korea embassy in Germany

Since 2000 the gallery space of the Korean Cultural Centre of the Republic of Korea embassy in Germany has been held numerous exhibitions and symposiums that present to the audience opportunities experiencing unique culture, art and design from Korea. The gallery is located in Potsdamer Platz, at the very heart of Berlin, the pulsating art capital of the European continent.

In 2017, the galley space has been rebranded to gallery damdam. Damdam(담담) has two distinct meanings in Korean language; it may denote a calm atmosphere or deep wide waters. According to the meanings, we give our best to offer audience the variety of a pleasant space of the arts.

The purpose of gallery damdam is twofold. On the one hand, it aims to provide an innovative platform for contemporary art supporting the works of artists related to Korean culture. On the other hand, gallery damdam serves as a focal point where artistic experimentation, intercultural exchange and knowledge transfer occurs. The mission of gallery damdam is to bring light to the unseen experimental contemporary artists and create an expanse of a cultural exchange between countries.
